iPhone OS 3.0 out today
June 17th, 2009As I type this, the time is 8:41am on the 17th June, the day of iPhone OS 3.0's release. As this is UK time, the software hasn't been released yet, but it's surely a matter of hours.
So here's a question for the day, will you be upgrading as soon as it's released or will you be waiting a week or 2 to see what problems get uncovered before making the plunge?

Windows 7 networking with Parallels 3 tutorial
May 20th, 2009As I’m sure you all know, Microsoft have released the public Release Candidate version of Windows 7. Thanks to Parallels Desktop 3, I have Windows 7 installed in a virtual machine environment on my iMac. I would love to say it was plain sailing (in fact for the most part it was), but as with the Beta release, I was faced a networking problem.
Windows 7 RC1 available
May 10th, 2009Just a few days ago Microsoft made the release candidate of Windows 7 available to the public. Unsurprisingly I have already downloaded the RC1 and am setting about testing it, and finding out just how good Windows 7 is looking ahead of it's retail release.
Keep watching this space for thoughts on Windows 7 and a review. I'm also likely to do a tour video of Win 7 key features!
Sponsored Charity Run
April 30th, 2009Before anyone asks, I'm not running anywhere! However a friend of mine is running the Edinburgh marathon to raise money for Cancer Research UK. Normally I keep posts tech related, but this is a good cause. I've posted a Cancer Research banner on the right side of the page should anyone wish to sponsor, this takes you directly to Bret's sponsorship page. The marathon is on May 30th.
Microsoft Ad Campaign
April 15th, 2009Recently Microsoft factored "Apple Tax" into their campaign, claiming that people are paying $500 just to have the Apple logo on their computer. Since making the claims, it has been revealed that the report MS commissioned is little less than factual.
Here are my thoughts
iPhone App - Wolfenstein 3D
April 5th, 2009id Software have released the first First Person Shooter ever onto the iPhone. Wolfenstein 3D is widely considered to be the grandfather of modern games. By anyone's standards this is a true gaming classic. This video shows some of the gameplay, controls and my thoughts on a game I have fond memories of.
All I wish for now is Doom on the iPhone!
