Printers - are their days numbered?

Ok I admit this may seem a strange topic. I mean think about it, printers are selling by the boat load. So why would I even think about writing about the days being numbered?  I mean surely it's madness.

Well, at this point in time yes. Printers are very much a part of every day life. But I'm thinking 5 or maybe even 10 years down the line here. You see, with the tablet revolution well under way thanks primarily to the iPad, and with businesses adopting or at least thinking about adopting some form of tablet platform, I can see a time when printing off a document may be a thing of the past.

...

With a number of top companies around the world at least trialling tablets as a part of the corporate hardware, I can see that more employees are taking all their notes to meeting on one of these gadgets rather than in a folder. Handouts of slide presentations can easily be emailed to attendees, perhaps the days of the paperless office are slowly becoming visible. Should this happen I think we may yet see printers start to become less and less used. So are their days numbered? Not yet, but who knows what the future holds.

A dying technology? No... I think not unless the whole world simultaneously adopt the system. However most of us think this way for the sake of technology advancement,,,the future knows.
