Windows XP slowly fading away

An interesting article on PC Pro points out that market share of Windows XP is on the decline. Windows XP was first released in 2001 and despite the fanfare surrounding the disappointing Vista, it continued to be the dominant operating system. Even with the release of the excellent Windows 7 it still had held on to a large market share.

That share is reducing ever more quickly as users upgrade to Windows 7, as well as switching to other platforms like Mac OS X.

XP has stood the test of time without any question, it is unlikely we will see an OS spend so long in the wild without a replacement again.
